More July Empties / Vichy, Klorane, Racinne

As I mentioned in my last empties post here, I'm keeping my empties on my bathroom counter top which is forcing me to share them so that I can throw them away. So far so good as it's only been two weeks and I have more to share. Not entirely exciting this time and no makeup, but this is what I've emptied in the last two weeks.

My consumption of dry shampoo (probably a very wrong way to use that term since I'm not eating it) has gone way down since my psoriasis on my neck has been so bad. I thought that I really didn't need to be overdoing it on hair products, but to tell you the truth, it really has made a difference, so I'm back to using products, and this one contains oat milk which is supposed to be calming for the scalp.  Klorane is not my favorite dry shampoo, but it's not the worst I've ever tried either. I have a few of these travel sizes, so this was my go to lately. It is so easy to just rip through a small can of this in nothing flat. I probably received this in a Glossybox, but to be honest, I wouldn't buy it on its own first because the Oscar Blandi (which is getting hard to find :() is still my favorite and second because this is a French drugstore brand, and it always kills me when I see how much it costs here versus there. At $10, it's not the most expensive, but I guess it's the principle.

I have no idea where I got the Racinne 3 piece system this serum was part of as well as a face cream and neck cream. I might have bought it last year when I was looking for a new neck cream, but I knew it had been sitting in the drawer for a while, so I thought I had better use it. I do like the neck cream, but what I've emptied so far is this serum. I kept this one in my office, and on days when I am rushed in the morning,  I tend to finish my skincare at my desk. If you are unfamiliar with the brand (because I was), Racinne is a Korean line out of Canada, and describes the Ultimate Youth Power line as minimizing the look of large pores and promoting elasticity. This is a lightly scented white serum that is neither terribly sticky or silicone feeling like some serums can be. It does take a while to sink into the skin. It's a good every day serum, but it didn't leave me feeling like I couldn't live without it, so I'm moving on to try something else.

Not exciting at all but keeping it real peeps. I empties a powder fresh Secret this week. I don't usually buy the powder fresh, but D did the shopping last time I had this on the list, so this is what he picked up. I'm now using the Secret Clinical Strength just because I remember using it a few years ago, and I thought I would try it again to see if there is a noticeable difference.

And last but definitely not least, I emptied a Vichy Micellar last week. This is my favorite Micellar, and like the Klorane, it is a French drugstore brand. I've stocked up on our last two trips because you can buy huge bottles in 2-packs there for about the same price as they sell this 6.76 ounce bottle at Target. I will capitulate and pay the price for it when I run out because I use it every night. It leaves no stickiness on my skin and does not burn the eyes at all. Even if you just use it to take off mascara, I can't recommend it highly enough.

So that's it for this week's batch. Time will tell if I can keep up the battle to keep the clutter off the countertop by getting things posted here.

By the Pool / Chanel, Le Tote, Rebecca Minkoff

Dress: Hayes via Le Tote
Flats: Chanel
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (No longer available but this is from the same collection)

If you haven't noticed, this seems to be my go-to spot for pictures since we moved. At the old house, our yard was not as nicely landscaped, so we often ended up running over to the park that was a few blocks from the house to take pictures for the blog. We live just as closely to a park now, but we've gotten used to taking them here. We really do need to work on getting out more! If you read my lifestyle blog, the area we are relandscaping would be to the left in these photos.

I've paired down my wardrobe a bit and made a decision to stick to a more neutral palette for ease of mixing things, but at the same time, I restarted my Le Tote subscription and have been dying to try the Rent the Runway Unlimited, so signed up for that as well. Anything colorful you see here will probably have come from one of those two places for the immediate future. I also read a weight loss tip that said you should stop buying clothes in your current size and use the reward of buying new clothes in a size down as incentive for weight loss...well, I've tried everything else. Let's see how this goes.

I just got these red Chanel flats from The Real Real. I had been stalking a pair hoping they would lower the price, when I spotted these, and they were on sale! The last time I bough Chanel flats, I sized up a half size and regretted it. I didn't do that this time, and they fit, but it would be nice if they were a bit looser.

This Rebecca Minkoff bag is a bit of a concession. I had spotted a Love bag online that I was hoping to wait until the Nordstrom Anniversary sale to pick up. Of course it was gone, but then one day I was in Nordstrom Rack and saw this one that, I think, would be from the same collection as it has the same color combo. It's a little inconvenient to open, but I like it.

This week I've linked up for #IwillwearwhatIwant on Not Dressed as Lamb. Please go check out all the lovely ladies who have shared their links.

July Empties / L'Oreal, Redken, Shiseido, Garnier

I'm trying to get out of the habit of throwing my empties into a bag underneath the sink where they grow and grow, and I never share them. I'm hoping that by keeping them on the bathroom counter, I'll see them and want to get rid of them, so maybe I'll post about them every week. So let's get going on this week's batch.

My hairdresser recommended Redken Frizz Dismiss Shampoo to me a few years ago, and I've been using it ever since. I've tried everything to control the rough texture of my hair over the years, and this is the first thing that I ever really felt worked well to control the frizz and make my hair soft after air drying.

This Shiseido Ibuki Gentle Cleanser came in a travel pack with the Softening Concentrate and the Refining Moisturizer. It was recommended by a salesperson at Sephora when I was looking for something to deal with the hard, scaliness I feel I get when my skin is overly congested. This has been my shower cleanser for use mainly in the evening and like the Redken, it will definitely be a repurchase.

Although I used the entire thing (because I'm like that), I did not love the Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller. The metal rollerball tip was very cool and refreshing, but the product itself was just meh. I often felt like I need to layer other, thicker products over it.

My only makeup empty this week is the L'Oreal Butterfly Intenza Mascara. This has been rolling around in my travel makeup bag for a long time and looks really beat up. I'm not very passionate about mascara, but I do want something that either adds volume or length and doesn't just try to color my already dark lashes. This does both. I have quite a few mascaras in the drawer right now, but when I get around to buying another, I would consider this one again.

New Romantic / Target White Dress

Do you ever have days that just don't go as you've planned? That was our day yesterday. We had big plans for an outing that we were all looking forward to, and had planned a few weeks ago, but then due to some things out of our control, we realized that by the time we got there, we wouldn't have very much time to spend before we would have to head for home.

We all agreed to forget about our plans, but later in the day, we all admitted that we wished we had gone with the original plans even though our time would have been limited and that at the time we canceled the plans, each of us thought the others didn't want to go, so we all said we were good with cancelling. Even though we all really wanted to still go.

We realized how crazy this turned out to be, went to brunch, went to Target to buy a new dog bed, and then went to an open house in a neighborhood we all love.

We didn't go through with our original plan, but we had a pretty great day nonetheless.

June Empties / Origins, Lush, Victoria's Secret, It Cosmetics

Another favorite, favorite product. The It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Poreless Finish Airbrush Powder Great product but what a name! This was the powder I kept in my travel makeup bag all year, and I realized I was running low while in Dallas in April. I made it through one more trip to LA in May and then moved it to my vanity at home to finish it off. I made sure I had a backup ready to go for this one.

I wrote about my love for the Lush Bubbly Shower Gel in my May favorites here. Unlike the Origins hair mask below, I've been rationing this knowing I wouldn't be able to get a replacement. I though the Yuzu and Cocoa would be a good fill in, but no. I'm going to try The Olive Branch instead.

This Origins Rich Rewards Moisture Treatment for Hair has been sitting in my shower for about two years – not empty – I'm not that bad. I went through a phase where I couldn't get enough of it and was wearing the mask at least twice a week. Then I started feeling like I wasn't getting the same results with it, so I started using it less and less until it just sat in the shower all neglected. I finally used it again a few weeks ago to see if I would fall in love with it again and alas no. This will be the first time in years that I don't have one open and in use.

Finally, another item hanging around on my vanity for-EVER was this Victoria's Secret Love Spell Fragrance Mist I mean just look at the packaging in my photo compared to the online product photo. Ancient. I do like to have a fragrance mist on hand for the warmer summer months, but this was a little too I don't even know what for me. It's not that it was overly floral just maybe not spicy enough? Anyway I finished it off the week that it was 117(!) here.
